Battle for Jepson's Landing - In the Heart of Africa Adventure Time

Hello,

I've been too lazy to post game reports recently, but I thought I should post a recent game of "In the Heart of Africa game.

Rumor has it, that the rogue colonialist ad-venture capitalist J. Jepson has acquired a boat load of repeating rifles.

The evil British colonialists and good Arab slavers both want the weapons.  There are two objectives, the storage area in the middle and Jepson himself in the landing bar.

Two British soldier quality units arrive on the board (top).  Two soldier quality Arab units arrive on the bottom.

One British unit boldly advances so close to Jepson's landing, he comes outside.

And Jepson kills a soldier.

The equally bold Arab unit triggers an ambush from the storage area.

Spearmen reinforcing the Arabs, have arrived via boats to sneak up and attempt to capture Jepson.

Another ambush from the storage area targets the British, but luckily for the British a large group of allied spearmen have also arrived to help.

The ambushed Arab unit, moves into rocky ground for a little cover and are pleased to see their bowmen allies arrive.

Arab soldiers spread out in a far more cautious move and plan to kill all the colonial soldiers focused on Jepson.

The Arab allied spearmen continue to sneak up on Jepson's rear.

The colonial soldiers are nearly wiped out by the Arab soldiers and Jepson.  British allied bowmen arrive to try and capture Jepson.

The British forces slowly advance on the storage area.

Having killed their ambushes quickly, the Arab forces advance on the storage area as well.

The British leader's bowmen are struggling on whether to focus on the Arabs or Jepson.

The British scout attacks Jepson in a last ditch effort, as the Arab leader's spearmen charge through the landing.  (He will fail)

Five units now battle in the swirling chaos that is the storage area.

The Arab's spearmen capture Jepson.

They immediately start to drag him off the board.

The British leader's spearmen have pushed back the Arab bowmen, Jepson's troops have all been killed, and the Arab soldiers have almost taken the storage area.

More British soldiers have arrived! (top right);  Arab swordsmen have arrived (bottom center).

The fresh Arab swordsmen rush behind the rifle screen to help the falling back bowmen, in the storage area melee.  The Arab bowmen have been extremely clever avoiding the full force of the British spears, and slowly withering down the far superior troops.

The British soldiers have arrived too little and too late and take casualties from the Arab firing line.

At this point, the British decide to give up; they only have three wounded units.  The Arabs have two wounded units and two full strength units, plus the spearmen with Jepson are almost full strength.

I'll post some mini pics in a day or two.

A7V Tank, Dunecrawler, Vickers, Reaction Marines, Cadians, and a rusty SEAVAN

Hello,

I haven't posted in over a month, but I promise to post more often.  Today I've finished a number of models.  First up is a GW Dunecrawler vehicle.

I don't really understand why one would paint a vehicle red, but that's what was on the box.

If you take the top off it looks like a giant menacing robot.

The A7V tank is from Old Glory.  I don't know if it's supposed to look crackly like that or not, but it adds flavor.

Here are some RAFM brand not-Space Marines called Reaction Marines.

I made a turquoise wash to try and age the bronze.

Here's a couple Vickers HMG teams from Old Glory.  Please ignore the backwards tripods, I assembled them from memory.

They could really use a dull coat.  It looks as if they are soaking wet.

Here are some of the original out of production metal GW Cadian Imperial Guard models.

I heard GW is going to kill their planet, Cadia.  I wonder if they are going to destroy the game and go all Age of Sigmar, like how they ruined WFB.

Here's a Reaper Miniatures plastic shipping container; it's two pieces so you can put stuff in it.

Till next time, when I'll have Prussians, robots, bikers, Gondorians, and Catachans.

Love and Kisses,
Baconfat

Rogue Trader Robots, Zombies, WWI Officers, Bretonian Crew, Monsters, Little Girl, Philistines, Etruscans, Cyborg, Clockwork Robot, Terrain, and a Shoggoth in a Pear Tree

Hello,

The stupid Fallout 4 video game has slowed my blogging, but I have managed to get a number of models completed.   Due to poor weather, I've been painting what was laying around primed.  It's too wet to spray paint outside.

Of this post's 37 models (getting my total up to 502 for the year!), the first are five old Rogue Trader robots.  Yes, they are a boring red paintjob and not very Rogue Tradery.

The guy on the far right isn't really Rogue Trader, but a repurposed MechWarrior clicky base thing.  I'll be making more of these in the future.  I'll need to figure out a backpack gun thing for it.

Here are five Old Glory late WWI British officers.

I didn't need anymore, but they were primed.

Here are a couple Biblical era chaps.  I have no idea who made the big guy.

The little guy is a Ral Partha/Ironwinds Metal miniature.

Here are five Victory Force zombies.  The guy in the middle looks a bit like Donald Trump.

The guy on the left was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Here's a cyborg (made out of a Battletech bottom and a Bloodbowl ripoff model) and a clockwork robot, from Reaper.

I only rebased this flying thing, the sweat shop factory paint job was good enough.  It might make a good sci-fi 28mm scale drone.

Here are six terribly painted Ral Partha Etruscan skirmishers.

It's nice that we have so many new plastic options in today's Golden Age of Miniatures.  Row upon row of the same exact pose seems very dull, in comparison.

Here is Mansions of Madness Mi-go, Doom board game cherub, and Wargames Factory survivor girl.

I used craft store Liquitex Iridescent acrylic medium to try and make the wings shiny, like a bugs.

Here's a weird skull thing and a dead Games Workshop goblin, squished by a metal ball.  The skull thing might be a coffin lid or perhaps a door I wouldn't open.

Here is a GW Bretonian trebuchet crew; I still need to find and paint my trebuchet.

Trebuchet duty must have been less than desirable.  These guys are ugly dirty wretches.  The one on the far right even appears leprous or to be suffering from a severe pox.

Here is a Reaper Shoggoth.

I "finished" or at least quit working on this terrain piece for Darkest Africa or other colonial games.

If the game calls for pointlessly high walls and poorly painted double doors with no handles, then this piece is perfect!

The little building is removable and I plan to someday make little rubble walls to fill it's place.

I forgot to take pictures of the little terrain accessories I made.

Till next time, loved ones, when I may have a couple dogs, a priest, a half paper tank, and some random 40K stuff.
